McGuffey Primers – No school like the old school!

After reading about these primers on lots of US homeschool blogs we decided to give them a try.  First of all I perused the digital archived copies on  I printed off the Revised Primer for free, then cut and bound it into a pamphlet to use with our 8 year old. Originally published in […]

FREE Medieval History Resources

We’ve been exploring some aspects of Medieval history recently.  There’s always particular interest in our household in jousting tournaments and crenellated battlements. We’ll get to Warwick Castle one of these days…! There’s plenty of interesting images to print off and colour over at ClipArt ETC like these knights jousting.  There’s also a couple of nice […]

Banana Crumb Muffins

This is a good way to use up those overripe bananas before they crawl off out of your fruit bowl in search of your compost heap 🙂

Hello blog!

Wow it’s been a while….please forgive my waywardness, just been living a little more real life! Here’s a clip from a gig I did recently with a band I’ve joined called The Omega Project.  I’m singing the old 60’s song Sunny.  Apologies for the not perfect quality 🙂 Now I must get round to some […]

A Song and a Dance

I performed this version of my love song “When I Look Into Your Eyes” at a fundraising concert at the weekend.  Check out the beautiful spontaneous dance from the 3 year old girl!  Scroll down for the lyrics. When I look into your eyes I see me as I am With you there’s no disguise […]

Spots and Stripes: The Natural Choice

Forget the mind-blowing intricacy of the human eye. Never mind the sheer brilliance of the billion stars twinkling for our enjoyment. These classic, chic and enduring designs ought to be proof enough of the genius of our creative God, don’t you think? 😉

The Power of a Song

A melody can steal your heart.  A lyric can capture your thoughts.  A song can change your life. Music is a strong communicator and a powerful expression.  It expresses straightforward opinions and complex emotions.  It challenges social mindsets and promotes political agendas.  Music helps us to connect, helps us to understand, and in doing so […]

Great Blogs on Music & Faith

One of the main by-products of getting on the Twitter bandwagon is that I’ve read lots of excellent and frankly fascinating blog articles.  Just lots of original, creative, challenging thoughts from a bunch of ordinary people I’ve never met.  Admittedly usually they share common interests and themes. So here’s my blogroll so far on music […]

“Christ has set us free to live a free life.” – Galatians 5:1 The Message Some of us take our freedom for granted.   Some of us are thankful for it every day.  We all experience freedom in different ways too.   For some of us it’s being able to choose to educate our kids at home, […]

Louder Than The Music Review

Thank you to Louder Than The Music for reviewing my demo of Arise and Shine! Click on the screenshot above to read the review, and check out the rest of the site while you are there, it’s a refreshingly honest take on Christian music. “You can tell this lady loves to write songs… Beth has […]

All Things (You are a Princess)

The lyrics of this new song are adapted from a sonnet written for me by my husband, and turned into a folk/country song by me. Its title refers to my all-time favourite verse from the Bible, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things, through Christ who strengthens me.” I hope you enjoy it!

Arise and Shine studio version

This is a simple demo, but recorded in a studio with a midi keyboard and professional mic and software. Most of the songs I record myself – live, as it were – with a high quality mic, and then tidy them up afterwards.

Change your life, not just your clothes (The Message)

Kari Jobe sings You are for me

I just played this video and wept. It’s beautiful. God is truly for us, he will never abandon us…

The Truth About Jesus: Good, but Not Safe

From The Lion, the Witch & The Wardrobe (C.S.Lewis): “Is he a man?” asked Lucy. “Aslan a man!” said Mr Beaver sternly. Certainly not. I tell you he is King of the wood and the son of the great emperor-beyond- the-sea. Don’t you know who is the King of the Beasts? Aslan is a lion […]

New Song: Your Name

[easyembed field=”Yourname”] This song expresses some of the ways God has been there for me and changed my life, by using some of his many beautiful names.

There's no place like home. Home is where the heart is. An Englishman's home is his castle. And so on. Cheesy cliches aside, we are nonetheless aiming for a renaissance of the home.
